The Liftgate Double Check is an easy way to test the operation of a liftgate charging system (as long as it uses a 20 amp DC/DC converter for charging) and source vehicle to ensure that both charging system and vehicle are operating properly.
Source vehicle does not have to be present to test the liftgate charging system—any temporary 12 volt power source may be used (i.e. car, pick-up, service vehicle).
Our 20 Amp Applied Load module is included with every Double Check. This accessory allows technicians to perform load tests on vehicles to ensure the tractor has sufficient energy to charge the liftgate batteries.
Diagnoses liftgate charging system issues
Uses any vehicle as a power source
Tests tractor and trailer electrical systems separately
Shows if power connections are good using easy-to-read LED indicators
Measures amount of current being pulled by the liftgate charging system
Includes a variety of adaptors, such as dual pole, single pole, 7-way, etc.
Purkeys warrants each product to be free of defects in material workmanship under normal use and service. This warranty benefits the customer and covers products made by Purkeys and sold by Purkeys or their authorized dealers. The warranty period is 36 months. This warranty is not valid if the product is not used correctly or is altered without written consent. Defective products must be inspected by Purkeys as part of the warranty claims process. The warranty will not apply if the product is subjected to an accident, faulty repair, improper installation, neglect, or defects in the peripheral vehicle components.
The LGDC is used to test the operation of a liftgate charging system as well as test the source vehicle to ensure that both system and vehicle are operating properly.
Why was the Liftgate Double Check created?
The LGDC was created to help diagnose liftgate charging system problems by isolating and checking the source vehicle and liftgate charging system separately for faster diagnosis. The benefit is that the source vehicle does not have to be present to test the liftgate charging system. Any temporary 12-volt power source may be used (i.e. car, pick-up, service vehicle).
How is the Liftgate Double Check used to test the liftgate charging system?
The LGDC is connected to any vehicle with a functional charging system and then to the trailer, using the correct adapters provided in the kit. An LED read-out on the tool will show current flowing from the vehicle to the charging system, and an LED indicator on the LGDC shows if the source vehicle voltage is sufficient.
How is the Liftgate Double Check (LGDC) used to test the source vehicle?
The LGDC is connected to the source vehicle using the correct adapters provided in the kit. Once the vehicle is running, a MULTIMETER can be connected to the LGDC and a 20 amp load is placed on the source vehicle circuit using the LGDC. The voltage can be noted on the MULTIMETER and used to determine if the source vehicle is the cause of the liftgate charging system problem.
What liftgate charging systems can the Liftgate Double Check (LGDC) be used on?
The LGDC can be used on any system that uses a 20 amp DC/DC converter for charging.
Can the Liftgate Double Check (LGCD) be used to test liftgate charging systems powered by stinger and 7-way cords?
Yes, the LGDC kit contains all the necessary adapters to test liftgate charging systems powered with single and dual pole stingers as well as 7-way cords.
What vehicle can be used to power the Liftgate Double Check (LGDC) for testing liftgate charging systems?
Any vehicle can be used that has a functional charging system that is capable of providing 25 amps of current at a voltage above 13.8 volts.
Can the Liftgate Double Check (LGDC) determine if the source vehicle has a bad stinger or 7-way cord?
Yes, the LGDC can determine if a source vehicle has a bad stinger or 7-way cord by providing the necessary adapters in the kit to test the source vehicle with and without the cords. A bad test result with the cord, and a good test result without the cord, indicate the cord is bad.
