Community Involvement: Northwest Arkansas Food Bank

Tis the season for giving! This past Thursday, part of the Purkeys team donated their time to help the NW Arkansas Food Bank Mobile Pantry program.

As there are approximately 63,000 food insecure people in Northwest Arkansas, the food bank supports many local agencies, public schools, and senior centers along with their Mobile pantry program to get food to those in need.

The mobile pantry program focuses on taking food out into the community to feed the food insecure—particularly those who have difficulties in traveling directly to the food bank. Last Thursday, five Purkeys representatives teamed up with the food bank at the JB Hunt Senior Activity center of Lowell to package and distribute food.

During the hour and half that Purkeys’ employees volunteered, they were able to help 48 households in the community. Purkeys is proud to support the community by offering help whenever possible.
